Trailrich Japan
Over 20 years of experience in nature tours

Trailrich
Makoto, Sofiane and Shin bring over 20 years of experience in the travel sector, at times as colleagues in the same company, at times as crossing paths at airports and mountain peaks on our adventures with customers. With roots in Japan, North Africa and Europe, we reunite to launch our own travel venture in 2014.
Trailrich is a Destination Management Company based in Yokohama Japan. We specialize in active multi days program with focus on hiking and trekking in all levels. We know, trekking might not be the first thing you associate with when thinking about travel to Japan! However, our nation offers breathtaking mountain landscapes and well maintained hiking trails. One of the unique heritage of Japan is its indigenous Shinto religion that warships a wide range of natural elements. Many of the ancient paths that run along temples and shrines, cedar forests, as well as a wide range of stunning countrysides still exist and make for a remarkably exciting hiking experience.
All of our programs include a travel pack that is a detailed description of the trip for you to navigate and manage the itinerary independently. This of course doesn’t mean that once you book you are on your own! We take your phone calls around the clock and/or stay in touch via messaging, and will be your ally every step of your journey!

MAKOTO MURASAWA
Head of the team, guide
Born and raised in Nagano, the heart of the Japanese alps, Makoto spent much of his childhood and youth exploring the surrounding mountains through out all seasons. In 1998 his home town hosted the Winter Olympics which for the first time included Snowboarding as part of its disciplines. That same sport remain one of Makoto’s main passion still today.
Makoto has written and managed countless itineraries as one of the main sales force at a large European whole sale travel agency, generated much of the tourist traffic from Japan to the rest of the world anywhere from major destinations to remote islands and mountain trails.
His almost instinctive sense of predicting the weather has enabled numerous customers to witness the much anticipated view of the aurora in Norway, the iconic view of Mt.Fuji or the Matterhorn on a cloudy day when everyone else had long given up. Makoto's ever growing portfolio of customers is a solid proof of his ability to come out strong when the conditions challenge you.

SHIN HÄRTEL YAMAGUCHI
Tour planner, guide
Born and raised in Japan to Swiss/Japanese parents, Shin spent the first 16years of his life in a little town by the sea out side of Tokyo. Surfing and skateboarding naturally was his favorite sport before moving to Switzerland where he developed his passion for mountaineering at the heart of the European alps.
At Trailrich, Shin’s main tasks are tour planning and guiding. Most of the year he spends on the road either with customers or otherwise traveling to discover new destinations to include in Trailrich’s programs.
As a guide Shin takes advantage of his language skills to attend customers from all over the world, many from Japan, also German and English speaking parts of the world. His bicultural upbringing makes him the ideal guide to bring Europe and Japan closer.

SOFIANE SEDRATI
Logistics, guide
Born and raised in Algeria, Sofiane brings an exotic mix to our backgrounds. Later in his youth, he moves to live in his mother's birth-land, Japan. Taking full advantage of being fluent in 5 languages including Arabic and Japanese, he enrolls in a tourism degree where he first encounters Makoto, and the 2 have been a powerful duo ever since.
Sofiane mainly manages the operational part of our programs that could reach a substantial amount at times, yet his nonchalant and even-tempered nature allows for a precise and seamless ground operation.
As a guide, Sofiane often accompanies customers from nations where a large part of the population are muslims. The unique mix of spiritual schools in Japan allow for a liberal and open inclusiveness of different beliefs, and our food culture offers a lot of flexibility for travelers with different dietary requirements.
